2014 Seyahati / Road Trip

Niagara notes

[9-10 August, Tanju] I’m delayed in writing but managed to update our Niagara picture gallery in the mean time. We left Boston with delay due to the slowness in the car rental place, then ran into some unexpected slow traffic on Mass Pike. Apparently everyone was going to a natural foods farmers’ market at one of the rest stops.

The US side of Niagara compared to the Canadian side is like Tijuana to San Diego, it is way past its glory days. We wanted to see the Falls from the Rainbow Bridge between the two countries in the evening. After seeing the Canadian side, and to compensate for the kids’ disappointment with our hotel (it is difficult to get a good hotel on a weekend even 10 days in advance), we ate dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe.

On Sunday morning we went to the Cave of the Winds at the bottom of the American Falls after taking a 177 feet elevator ride. The power of the water is impressive when looked at from the bottom. Then we strolled around the park taking in the sights and the sounds of the American and the Horseshoe Falls. Around 1 pm we set out for Chicago.
